Breaking into Fashion Journalism Brief
Are you a budding fashion journalist? Then this is the project brief challenge for you!
At Fashion Minority Report, we’re obsessed with creating pathways for underrepresented talent who often lack the resources or connections that can help you to establish a career in your chosen field.
So that’s why we’re excited to be launching live project briefs as a springboard for you to get closer to your chosen career.
Our first brief is seeking written submissions from applicants on the theme of Creative Change Makers in the fashion world and creative sector.
The Brief
Creative Change Makers are the people who we identify at FMR, as using their space in the industry to create meaningful change for those who are underrepresented or marginalised. In addition to this, the Creative Change Makers are a diverse range of professionals who sit across a multitude of disciplines, and they represent what success can (and should) look like within our industry.
We’d like you to write an 800 word piece about someone or a selection of people who you identify as a Creative Change Maker.
Tell us in your own words why you think that your chosen subjects are making an impact, how they’re doing it, and why you admire their journey and work.
How to apply?
All entries must be submitted by MIDNIGHT on NOVEMBER 25th 2022 via email, and should include your name, permanent address, telephone number, date of birth and occupation.
Entries received will be reviewed in depth, and shortlisted to a final group of five who will become our mentees.
As a finalist, your writing will then be shared with our industry professionals who include editors and senior writers, ahead of a 1-2-1 mentor feedback session that will be hosted online via video call.
This online mentoring session will be an opportunity to receive constructive feedback, whilst giving you the chance to pose questions about the industry in an informal setting.
As with all of our work at FMR, this project brief is aimed at a diverse pool of talent who come from underrepresented communities.
