FMR Up-Skilling Workshop: Garment Upcyling

FMR Up-Skilling Workshop: Garment Upcyling

02/12/25
London

Outside of understanding how a brand is built, we think that it is important to learn how to construct a garment. After all, if we’re going to sell it, why not be better versed in knowing about the finer details of its construction.

Hosted in London at the Fashion Retail Academy campus in Moorgate, the FMR up-skilling workshop provides attendees with a fun opportunity to engage with garment construction under the supervision of a technician over 3 consecutive evenings of learning.

Attendees will come away from the activity having gained knowledge in basic sewing skills which will boost your confidence in creativity, design skills, and upcycling practices.

What is the Format?

On arrival we will introduce the group to each other ahead of setting attendees an upcycling design brief to create their reimagined garment starting with product selection, moving onto moodboard development, working through to garment construction, and concluding with a presentation which showcases your finished garment – all in the space of 3 evenings.

This session is open to people of varying levels, and you will be provided with a tutorial on using the sewing machines to ensure that you feel comfortable.

Thank you to our delivery partner, the ASOS Foundation for their support.
