FMR Summer School
The FMR Summer School will provide young people with the opportunity to get hands-on with the fashion industry and creative sector across 2 days of interactive learning and workshops during the summer holiday.
Developed by FMR in partnership with a leading learning institution, the curriculum will focus on a broad range of interesting topics that range from sustainability to up-cycling, graphic design to marketing and international fashion design.

An introduction to fashion design with Industry Partner
Learn the fundamentals of how a fashion designer develops the clothes that you buy from one of the worlds most loved brands. You’ll get to learn about the key roles of the design studio team who take part in the design and development process, and have a better understanding of the different roles that you could play in the fashion industry.
During the session, students will develop their own collection moodboard that allows them to produce a theme, gather references and research, and end up with sketches which showcase their design flair and skill.
Day 1: Session 1 @9:30am – 12:00pm
An introduction to up-cycling with Industry Partner
We all love to look ready for the runway with our outfit choices, but what cost does it have on the planet? In this hands-on session, students will learn about the sustainable fashion pioneers who are making our clothing choices better for the planet.
During the workshop, students will have a chance to create their own look, using repurposed items of clothing and fabric from our crafty tool kit, that they can take home at the end of the day.
Day 1: Session 2 @1pm – 4pm
Marketing Magic
In this session we’ll take attendees through the different stages of marketing a fashion brand, and introduce the group to the different people and teams who are part of the process.
During the session students will get the opportunity to work together as a team and develop their own fashion advertising campaign using tools and tips from the professionals.
Day 2: Session 1 @9:30am – 12:00pm
Creating a Window Display
The shop window is a great way to attract people into your retail environment, so now that you’ve developed your campaign, let’s get hands on and create an eye-catching window display that will stop people in their tracks.
The group will take on different roles to bring their window to life, first creating a moodboard and then using products and props to apply their new marketing magic skills of fashion promotion to a real window.
