About the business
JOSEPH is a British contemporary designer brand with a strong core of luxury essentials. Founded in 1966 by Casablanca-born Joseph Ettedgui, he was an early champion of now-iconic design houses and emerging brands alike. The JOSEPH own label was created in 1983, placing importance on luxury essentials and providing women with a complete modern wardrobe.
Today, JOSEPH has 10 global stores, a 360 digital presence; and over 400 stockists – all vibrant centres of creativity and style. JOSEPH continues to curate an edit of today’s most exciting iconic and emerging designers in their two DESIGNERS AT JOSEPH stores.
Under the vision of Co-Creative Directors, Anna Lundbäck Dyhr and Frederik Dyhr, who joined JOSEPH in 2020, the brand continues to realign with Joseph Ettedgui’s original vision; creating a balance between fashion and a timeless wardrobe of luxury essentials.
Why is diversity and inclusion important to your company?
Our Company Values of integrity and restlessness promote diversity and inclusion and result in valued opinions, collaboration, creativity, innovation, wellbeing, and enhanced experiences for both our employees and our customers.
At JOSEPH, we are committed to achieving a culture of diversity, inclusivity, and gender balance. We value talent, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sex, or any other factor.
The Company’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee continues to develop the Company’s DEI initiatives in partnership with the leadership team.

What is the culture that you foster within your company?
JOSEPH’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee was established in 2020 and continuously works to enhance JOSEPH’s diversity and inclusion events and activities which include discussions, shared resources, guest speakers, learning and development and 3 rd party partnerships.
The committee has implemented an annual D&I calendar to ensure a that a variety of D&I topics are recognised and celebrated. In addition, JOSEPH cascades an annual D&I data report to ensure continued learnings and actions for both the committee and the business.
How do you support personal development?
The attraction and retention of talent at JOSEPH remains a key priority. Ensuring that employees have structured annual reviews and S.M.A.R.T objectives are the foundations of the support that is in place.
In addition, JOSEPH delivers 12 internal HR training programmes across a variety of topics on a monthly basis which aids in the development of the whole workforce. Having implemented a High Potential training program in partnership with Penny Blake Associates, JOSEPH has taken active steps in identifying and developing the next succession of leaders working to imbed a culture of internal development.
The retail program, established in 2021, also seeks to enhance and upskill our retail teams to ensure that a unique luxury selling experience combined with leadership competencies exists within each store.
At JOSEPH we also believe that personal development is aided by our reward and recognition incentives which exist in the form of our monthly Gratitude Award and quarterly Retail Values Awards.
