Fashion Minority Report launches ‘The Reporter’, leading conversation on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Written by By Hannah Makonnen
In line with the beginning of London Fashion Week, Fashion Minority Report launched its eponymous newspaper, ‘The Reporter’. Leading the conversation on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, The Reporter addresses the creative industries most pertinent issues, while celebrating the work of change makers and emerging talent.
Addressing hard subjects with candour, the paper threads together a range of topical issues, leaning on a breadth of diverse voices and industry experts to shed light on the ways in which businesses can ensure active change. From talking to Gizem Arici, Head of Sustainability at Copenhagen Fashion Week on how to accelerate movement towards a more sustainable industry, to discussing the lack of diversity amongst Creative Directors within luxury fashion houses, with Jeanie Annan-Lewin, Creative Director at Perfect Magazine, the paper sets a strong precedent for change within the industry.
“[The Reporter is a] way to create change for underrepresented backgrounds… that we hope will inspire conversation and progress”
Daniel Peters – Founder of Fashion Minority Report
As one of the first of its kind, the newspaper’s most unique asset is its statistical based reports on the state of the DEI market, providing practical solutions for business implementation. Additionally, filtered throughout is a celebration of creative change makers, such as Josephine Phillips, Patrick McDowell and Susie Bubble, whose front page interview discusses her experiences of navigating the industry as a Chinese-British journalist and blogger.
Industry professionals gathered Wednesday morning at Browns Fashion’s restaurant ‘Native’ to celebrate its release, with attendees such as Toni Blaze Ibekwe, Editor in Chief of Wonderland and member of The British Fashion Council’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, Vogue Business’ Senior Editor, Kati Chitrakorn, and DEI representatives from the likes of Farfetch, Charlotte Tilbury and ASOS.
Fashion Minority Reports founder, Daniel Peters, described The Reporter’s purpose as being a “way to create change for underrepresented backgrounds… that will inspire conversation and progress”.
